The brand of Italian cars "Lamborghini" is known all over the world for its sports cars. The company was founded in 1963 on the basis of the Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A tractor plant and named after the owner Feruccio Lamborghini. At the same time, the first Lamborghini 350 GT model was presented. This car was equipped with a twelve-cylinder 3.5-liter engine and 347 horsepower. The maximum speed of this car monster reached 280 km / h.
In 1965, Lamborghini released the legendary Miura. It was later eclipsed only by "Ferrari". The Miura was distinguished by its powerful engine, custom design and excellent track behavior. And, of course, at a price, almost immediately falling into the category of luxury cars.
In the late 70s of the twentieth century, in the wake of the oil crisis, it was decided to expand production and start producing off-road vehicles. The first car of this type was called the Cheetah and was planned for sale to the US Armed Forces, however, despite good test results, the Pentagon refused the order.
In 1979, Lamborghini released the Countach LP400S, a fantastic project for those times, producing 455 "horses" and, for the first time in the history of this brand, equipped with a 4-valve engine.
In 1982, there was another attempt to create an SUV, but buyers were scared off by the huge dimensions and a very decent price.
In 1987, Lamborghini passed into the hands of Chrycler. At the same time, the release of the budget Jalpa, put on the conveyor in 1981, was discontinued. It was an attempt to create a car for the middle class, with a minimum of exterior and interior luxury, but with a maximum of opportunities for a car in this price category. The car was on sale for 6 years and was eventually recognized as an unprofitable venture.
In 1989, the legendary Lamborghini Diablo project was implemented - the fastest car in the world at that time. It could accelerate to 320 km / h, had a luxurious design and a corresponding price. Of all its modifications, the Diablo Roadster SV was the most popular.
In 1994 and 1998 "Lamborghini" went through two more changes of owners and only in 2001, as a result, was able to present a new model. It was a descendant of Diablo, the Murcielago, and was originally designed by Luke Conderwolk. Its maximum speed went beyond 330 km / h, which was provided by a V12 power unit for 580 "horses" and an impressive volume of 6.2 liters.
In 2007, the project of the most expensive and powerful civilian car Lamborghini Reventon was implemented. The car was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show and immediately won the hearts and wallets of many rich people on the planet. And on March 1, 2011, the Lamborghini Aventador brand debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, which actually became a replacement for the legendary Murcielago. Among serial cars, its characteristics have become an unattainable standard. This is acceleration to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, and 700hp, issued by a powerful twelve-cylinder engine of 6.5 liters, and a unique design.
In 2012, Lamborghini partnered with Boeing to create the Aventador Dreamliner Edition. This car is deservedly called "the mad bull" because under its hood there is a 6.5-liter twelve-cylinder engine with 700 horsepower. In just 2.9 seconds, it is capable of accelerating to 100 km / h out of 350 km / h possible. The car is painted, like the Boeing plane, in white and blue colors. In the same year, the company released the most powerful model in the history of the global automotive industry - the Lamborghini Murcielago Stig. It took about four years to develop it, but the result was worth it. The power of this hypercar was 2000 horsepower.
In early 2013, Lamborghini introduced the Veneno roadster. The presentation took place on the deck of an aircraft carrier in the United Arab Emirates. The car is based on the Lamborghini Aventador, but is almost 120 kg lighter and has completely new body panels. A year later, the Lamborghini Huracan was demonstrated at a private show. It is the successor of the Audi R8, the only difference is in the length and engines of the supercars.
Since September 2013, it has been announced that Lamborghini will switch to hybrids, with the Asterion as the first. Its release will take place no earlier than 2017, and it is predicted that it will become a worthy competitor to the already existing hybrid supercars Ferrari and McLaren. A year later, another model is planned to be released, this time it will be the Urus crossover. Key markets for it will be the United States, Germany, Great Britain, China and several other countries.
Lamborghini is now actively developing projects for sustainable cars. Despite the cost of the cars, they are deservedly popular due to the high quality of every detail and luxurious design.
