Haval is a premium sub-brand of Great Wall. In 2002, the first Great Wall Haval SUV series appeared. Already in 2003, this model took 1st place in sales in the SUV segment. In 2005, the SUV with the CUV index was awarded the national award "Car of the Year", confirming all the benefits of Great Wall. In 2006, electronic fuel management technologies were introduced for the first time, which significantly reduced the fuel consumption of SUVs.
In 2009, the new Haval H3 entered the market, and a year later the company launched the H5. It is worth noting that the H5 is the first Chinese SUV to receive EU approval and all necessary certification. In 2011, the modern Haval H6 crossover debuted. A distinctive feature of the H6 is the high-tech design achievements of engineers. The Great Wall Haval H6 received the 2012 Chinese SUV Award and received a 5-star C-NCAP safety rating.
In 2014, Great Wall decides to gradually abandon the promoted Hover brand. Now all Great Wall cars will be produced under the Haval brand.
In Russia, Khawale officially debuted at MIAS 2014 along with three SUVs: H2, H6 and H8.
The Hover brand will not disappear from the Russian market; Hover cars will be produced in Russia at a plant in the Lipetsk region.
HAVAL cars for the Russian market will be produced at a plant in the Tula region.
In the Haval lineup, there are new urban crossovers of the "H" series, small urban compact cars of the "M" series and there are real frame SUVs, for example, the Haval H9.
