Aixam-MEGA is a French group of car manufacturers. The company includes two divisions that produce cars under the Mega and Aixam brands. The main activity is the production of miniature cars, both passenger cars and trucks, as well as quadricycles; most models in France do not require a driver's license to drive. The factories "Aixam-MEGA" are located in the communes of Aix-les-Bains and Chanas. The company's products are in demand not only in France, but also in Europe and North America.
The date of foundation of "Aixam-MEGA" was 1983, when on the basis of the company "Arola", which went bankrupt shortly before that, the production of cars of the class "subcompact" under the brand name "Aixam" was created. A year after the founding of the company, a new model Aixam 325D is released, and a year later - Aixam 400D. The company gradually developed, and after 9 years a new brand of miniature cars "Mega" was developed and presented.
Under the Mega brand, the production of cars begins in 1992, when Aixam was already recognized as leaders in the production of compact cars in France. The Mega division instantly secured a place in the sun by offering the buyer a low, sport-type Mega Club multi-purpose car with an open body with two doors made of plastic. A short time later, a miniature Ranch pickup was built on the basis of this car.
In addition to these two models, Mega produces two more technologically advanced sports cars with six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz V12 engines, the power of which is 395 horsepower.
The first car is named Monte Carlo. This is a graceful two-seater car that can reach speeds of up to 300 km per hour, thanks to a powerful mechanical five-speed gearbox. In the appearance of the car, space technologies are clearly visible, since the experience of designing F1 race cars was taken as a basis. In the back of a car, you will not see a single right angle or straight line. According to auto critics, the Monte Carlo is one of the most beautiful sports cars of the last decade.
The second car is called Mega Track. The car is absolutely unique, as it organically combines the qualities of an all-wheel drive SUV and the appearance of an elegant sporty two-seater coupe. The sports car accelerates to 250 km per hour and is assembled by hand, which determines its value, as well as cost. No more than two such cars are produced per year.
By 2002, the company considered the production of unique sports cars unpromising and switched to the production of light subcompact cars. All models of the new Mega Multitrack are very popular in Europe as well as in Japan.
In 2003 the company "Aixam-MEGA" made a complete renewal of its products. In order to fill the still vacant niches in the automotive market, it began to produce ultra-light commercial vehicles, and also released versions of cars with an electric motor.
Today, the Mega brand also produces the Mega Worker commercial electric car and the Mega City electric passenger car.
The Aixam brand produces the Aixam A.7XX mini cars, which are classified as ATVs in the UK. Most of the cars (about 15,000) were produced in 2007. In 2009, production was reduced to 12,000 copies.
At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, Aixam presents the new Impulsion series of subcompact passenger cars.
